You don't.
I don't know what illness the people had.
These were reports from over 50 years ago with a vaccine that is no
longer used (DTaP is now used).

Wyatt HV. Provocation of poliomyelitis by multiple injections. Trans R
Soc Trop Med Hyg. 1985;79(3):355-8. PMID: 4035736; UI: 85301396.
A number of epidemics of poliomyelitis between 1914 and 1962 are related to
children with congenital syphilis or yaws under treatment with arsenicals or
penicillin
Injections of vaccines provoked paralytic poliomyelitis in children in the
UK and elsewhere. The effect of multiple injections has not been recognized
previously but could be important in the tropics where children receive many
injections. A number of epidemics of poliomyelitis between 1914 and 1962 are
related to children with congenital syphilis or yaws under treatment with
arsenicals or penicillin. Rates of 25% of children with paralysis occurred
in epidemics while in non-epidemic periods the increase in susceptibility
was about 25 fold. Other possible cases of provocation are discussed.
Although in the tropics injections before paralysis may be causal, it will
be difficult to prove that they are not coincident. The very high rate of
paralysis following multiple injections is powerful evidence that injections
in the tropics are often causal.
When you get a clue, let us know. |

A vaccination increasing the susceptibility of person to a different
infection than the one the vaccine prevents is different than the
vaccine causing an infection.

Dear Jeff, I have been in remission from CIDP since 1996, thank
goodness. Prior to 6 plasmapheresis treatments that spring (and after
prednisone and IVIG failed to help), I had no sensory perception, was
unable to even sit up (postular hypotension), much less stand or walk,
and had sympathatic nervous system involvement to boot (heart,
digestion, persperation, you name it). When the head of neurology at
the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, in 1994 diagnosed me as having
Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneurapathy after
innumerable tests, a recent case of influenza or being injected with
the flu vaccine was one of about 5 possible causes he told me about.
Flu/vaccine didn't seem to apply in my particular case (cause of my
CIDP was deemed idiopathic) but I have ever since avoided the flu shot
(I have never received one) and pray I can avoid catching
influenza. Being homebound for the most part ought to help with
that.
I couldn't guess whether FDR had GB or CIDP rather than polio but the
effects of the muscle damage could certainly be similar. I can walk
again but still have muscle weakness, impaired balance, extreme
fatigue and I can't feel my feet.
just my personal experience. Patricia |

Again an expert - this time on VACCINATIONS!!!
And you think I'm a "paid-up" anti-vaccination liar!!!!
Who, pray tell, do you think is paying me?
I'm intrigued.

Oh WOW, Boindexeter here is talking about "science" -
so you'd never know that he's never actually walked into
a Homeopathy convention and discussed ANYTHING with real scientists.

For the record NOBODY is paying me anything,
these opinions are my own including the one that Peter is an idiot.
Thanks

Thank you for posting, you have shown great courage in your fight
against the illness and you are quite wise to avoid vaccinations.
You may find the following information, regarding expert evaluation
of the possibility that FDR had GB instead of polio interesting.
It is from my earlier posting "Peter Piper Polio - Whatever Happened
to the Polio Epidemic".
from
http://www.rsmpress.co.uk/jmb_2003_v11_p232-240.pdf
"Few adults who contracted paralytic poliomyelitis
in the first part of the twentieth century were older
than 30 years. Fever, permanent paralysis and transitory
bladder dysfunction are common but fever usually begins
before the paralysis in poliomyelitis and the
bladder dysfunction rarely lasts for more than a
few days. Furthermore, ascending, symmetric
paralysis, facial paralysis in the absence of other
cranial nerve abnormalities, obstipation, numbness
and dysaesthesia are unusual or absent in paralytic
poliomyelitis"
The authors continue with the OBVIOUS CONCLUSION
that FDR had GBS (Guillain-Barre), not polio.
"In contrast, all of FDR’s neurological abnormalities
commonly occur in GBS. His paralysis
was briefly unilateral but that is not unusual in the
early stages of GBS. Minor degrees of asymmetrical
paralysis, as found in FDR’s case, are also
common in GBS. Fever is uncommon in GBS but
has occasionally appeared at the start of the
neuritis.
Few features of FDR’s illness were consistent with
other causes of flaccid paralysis."
"Another reason to question the diagnosis is the
epidemiological pattern of paralytic poliomyelitis
in the United States during the early twentieth
century. At that time, almost all cases of the disease
were in infants and children of pre-school age.
During the 1920s, schoolchildren were also prone
to the infection but adults were at much lower
risk. In 1921, few adults older than 30 years
contracted paralytic poliomyelitis."
"The disease that most closely resembled FDR’s
illness was GBS, an immune-mediated attack on
peripheral nerves due to molecular mimicry
between foreign microbial antigens and self-antigens
that is particularly common in
adults. In that respect, certain infections,
including Campylobacter jejuni, cytomegalovirus,
Epstein–Barr virus and Mycoplasma pneumoniae,
often occur several days before the onset of
GBS. Cross-reactivity of IgG antibodies to
C. jejuni with GM1 gangliosides on nerve fibres may
be the commonest cause of GBS."
"Each neurological feature of FDR’s illness was
consistent with GBS. Landry’s ascending
paralysis is frequent in GBS. A symmetric
pattern of paralysis is usual but seldom absolute.
Moreover, meningismus, though common in
paralytic poliomyelitis was not found
in FDR's case. The
aching discomfort (‘‘lumbago’’) that FDR felt on
the first day of his illness is common in GBS and
poliomyelitis. Numbness occurs commonly in
GBS and not in poliomyelitis.
Furthermore, dysaesthesia occurs in about 47% of
patients with GBS58 but is rare in poliomyelitis"
quoted from:
What was the cause of Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s
paralytic illness?
