Archived from groups: misc>kids>health (more info?)

Everone,

I am spearheading this unique Autism fund raiser taking place the 2nd
weekend in September of 2008. The majority of all proceeds go for
Autism research and education. Should your schedule permit, we would
be honored if you would take part in the event. We have teamed up
with
the charity TACA - Talk About Curing Autism and would greatly
appreciate your attendance.

The following is a brief description of the fund raiser event
planned:

"CELEBRITY PINBALL TOURNAMENT & ARCADE GAME SHOW”

Before video games there was PINBALL. Pinball has been a piece of
Americana since the 1930’s. It is a part of the very fabric of what
makes us American. Each machine is an art form in its own right and
also an incomparable family entertainment device. Pinball machines
can also be very stimulating for all types of kids (whether on the
spectrum or not). So, unlike the typical black tie fund raiser (where
the kids are left at home with the nanny), this one will be the type
where the whole family can take part in this family friendly event!

We are expecting hundreds of arcade games and pinball machines to be
donated for the show by collectors and enthusiasts. Conveniently
located near LAX in Los Angeles, CA, historic Hollywood Park is on-
board and is providing us with a first class facility!

We are intending the weekend long event will be catered and be open
to
the public. It would operate as a pay at the door show to access all
the games in free-play mode. A donation would be required for
entering the pinball tournament.

Many celebrities have expressed interest in participating and we are
currently in talks with many more including, “Slash” from Guns ‘n’
Roses, Toni Braxton, Ronnie James Dio, Steven Tyler, Steve Vai, Jenny
McCarthy, Howard Stern, Hugh Hefner, Guy Fieri, Jeff Gordon, Mark &
Brian (KLOS), Nicholas Cage, Elvira, Vince Neil, Tommy Lee, James
Denton, John Cryer, Herme Sadler and others. Billy Bush and Tony
Potts, host of “Access Hollywood” have also expressed interest in
participating which almost ensures us that the "Access Hollywood"
production team will be on hand to cover the event. Needles to say,
it appears that the publicity machine will be in full swing for this!

A feature-length documentary is also planned. I will be directing
the
production of the “making of” the show as well as covering the
tournament itself. We are also negotiating with a number of
different
companies to donate merchandise and equipment. Those include
Panavision, Pro-Power, The Habit, Budget Car & Truck Rentals,
Allstate, Starbucks, Body Glove and more.

We are still in the planning stages but the support, encouragement
and
response from everyone has been overwhelming. Our website is now
online, www.celebritypinball4autism.org although content is still
being added. We would really appreciate your participation and know
that your involvement will contribute in a huge way and help make
this
event a tremendous success!

Please call me anytime should you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you in advance for your consideration and we look forward to
seeing you in September!

Sincerely,

Steven J. Winslow

Everyone:

The 1st Annual - Celebrity Pinball Tournament & Arcade Game Show in
Los Angeles, California is moving forward at full steam. The number
of
sponsors is growing daily it seems. Finally got around to updating
the
website over the last couple of days.

www.celebritypinball4autism.org

For those folks that intend on bringing games, the load in times have
been posted on the website. Hollywood Park is allowing us to move
games in all week long!

Monday - Thursday (8th - 11th)
10:30 AM - 3:00PM

The guys at Event Power Solutions are providing us with 36 20A
circuits!

Please email me to schedule a load in time convenient for you. You
can
even bring your games to sell (as long as they are 100% intact and
functioning 100% - no projects).

There will also be an opportunity to bring in games on Friday morning
before 12:00 Noon. All games must remain until the end of the show on
Sunday 3:00PM.

Raffle items, door prizes and giveaways are now confirmed (and still
coming in) from MTV & VH1, Pinball Life, Body Glove, Starbucks and a
few others I can't think of right now. We will also be auctioning off
(sealed bid) helicopter tour rides flown by legendary movie industry
pilots in 6 different major cities in the USA - New York, Boston,
Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles & San Diego.

A couple different T-shirts will also be available at the show.

The games list page on the website is still out of date although it
looks like a lot of games will be coming, most of those folks haven't
forwarded a list of the titles to me. A few rare early solid state
games are scheduled to be there including (WMS) Joust, Thunderball &
Varkon and plenty of "A" list games too like Theatre of Magic,
Monster
Bash, The Addams Family, Revenge From Mars, etc. Lots of EMs also.
The
video games list includes a nice Vector collection & lots of Raster
games new & old.

Catering and a full cash bar will be available onsite during the
entire event.

A $60.00 donation will get you a Weekend Pass or $100 donation for
entry into the Tournament (inclues a Weekend Pass). Brining games
gets
you into the event FREE. We will be giving away a pinball machine to
the winner of the tournament which will be run by Jim Belsito and
Josh
& Zach Sharpe from the IFPA.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me
anytime
via email. If you'd like to bring games or want to pass on the
information to your celebrity neighbor, please do...

Hope to see you all there !
